We, a group of aware, independent, committed, and progressive citizens of Afghanistan, inspired by the national and modernist ideals of Ghazi Amanullah Khan—the constitutionalist and reformist king—and guided by sound reason and collective wisdom, hereby formally announce the existence of the organization “Followers of the Amani Movement.” This organization was originally founded in Kabul on 7 Qaws 1398 (Hijri), corresponding to 28 November 2019. Following the collapse of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan at the hands of the Taliban group, the organization had been temporarily fragmented; however, by decision of its leadership council, it is now being revived. The fall of the republican system was not merely the end of a government, but rather a symbol of the failure of ineffective structures, widespread corruption, a deep divide between the state and the people, and a multidimensional political, social, and economic crisis at the national level, along with evident international interference in Afghanistan. In this atmosphere of repression and despair, we, as followers of the Amani Movement, have risen once again to raise the banner of freedom, social justice, civic equality, progress and modernization, and the legitimacy of state governance in Afghanistan.
